I first shared this Tropicalia Natural Hair Conditioning Treatment Recipe in August 2011 in Simply Beautiful. This recipe always makes me think of holidays when I make it. The smell and taste of coconuts instantly transport me to exotic far-flung destinations. Bananas are packed full of vitamins that strengthen the hair, promote shine, and protect the hair’s natural elasticity which helps prevent breakage and split ends. Coconut oil penetrates deep inside the hair shaft and helps repair breakages and split ends.

Ingredients

1 Organic Banana
3 tbs Organic Virgin Cold Pressed Coconut Oil
1 tbs Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

To make this hair mask, simply place the banana and the coconut oil in a bowl and mash them into a pulp until they are well combined. Next, pour the olive oil in and stir in little by little to smooth out the mixture. If you have a blender, this will create the desired texture with less elbow grease! Apply to dry hair, if you have a shower cap put it on as this will intensify the treatment. Leave on for up to an hour and then rinse your hair. Follow up with your regular shampoo to ensure no residue is left. This recipe will really nourish the hair, particularly if your tresses have been out in the sun all day.
