A few years back now, Giovanni, the US’s #1 selling hair products brand in the natural products arena, launched 2Chic Ultra-Sleek into the UK market. I was super impressed with the Giovanni 2Chic Ultra-Sleek shampoo and conditioner, and the 2Chic Ultra-Sleek Blow Out Styling Mist won my Biteable Best of Beauty Styling Awards in 2013.

Giovanni 2Chic Ultra-Sleek Blow Out Styling Mist
After years of not really doing very much with my hair in recent months, I’ve actually been picking up a hairdryer and straighteners and doing styling my hair a little bit more. Or at least making it presentable. Regular readers will know I’ve gotten into Fierce Grace Yoga in a massive way, and most times I practise in the evening. If I leave my hair wet and go to sleep I end up with a massive heap of hair on my head that is often a little on the frizzy, untamed side.
The reason I have tended to stay away from the styling apparatus in the past is that it takes SO long for me to dry my hair; the strands themselves are not particularly thick but there are a lot of them! Also, my hairdryer is missing one of its attachments; it has a great one for creating curls but it’s missing the concentrator nozzle i.e. the one I’m most likely to use. I guess it got lost in a move so it’s probably time to invest in a new hairdryer soon, any suggestions?
Giovanni 2Chic Ultra-Sleek Blow Out Styling Mist works, with or without the concentrator nozzle. Whether I section my hair and blow dry to my heart’s content, or if I am in a bit more of a hurry and do the old tip my head upside down and do a rough blow dry before smoothing the upper sections quickly with a styling brush. It delivers volume and smoothness whilst detangling all at the same time.
Giovanni 2Chic Ultra Moist Leave In Conditioner & Styling Elixir
The Giovanni 2Chic Ultra-Moist collection launched the year after the Ultra Sleek collection into the UK, however its only fairly recently that I tried these products. My review of their shampoo and conditioner is coming soon – I just need to work out where the photos are for it, I believe on a hard drive we’re struggling to get access to… The Ultra Sleek collection is most suited to my hair, but Ultra Moist has fabulous properties for dry and damaged hair, and frizzy and unruly curls would be kept in check by the collection. That said, I love the Ultra Moist Leave In Conditioner & Styling Elixir to help condition hair whilst also offering a helping hand on the styling and protecting front.
Whilst the Ultra Sleek collection calls upon Moroccan Argan Oil and Brazilian Phyto-keratin, the Ultra Moist collection utilises Avocado and Olive Oil to help nourish and lock moisture into hair.
Giovanni 2Chic Ultra-Sleek Flat Iron Styling Mist
Last but by no means least in this review is Giovanni 2Chic Ultra-Sleek Flat Iron Styling Mist, which protects whilst also works on keeping the hair straight (thanks to the Phyto-Keratin!) Now normally, if I straighten my hair one morning or night, the chances of it still being poker straight the next day are slim to none (the tell-tale signs being my curly wings by my ears and wavy ends.) With this product, however, I can just run my brush through my hair and it looks as though I’ve just put the straighteners to it! Really impressive as I never found a product that could make this happen through all my years. The one that came closest was Aveda Dead Straight, which seems to have changed its name to Smooth Infusion now, and that was over twice the price!
Onto the price, all of these products weight in at £8.99, which is slightly more than their mainstream counterparts. However, when it comes to usage of all of them, as is the way with so many natural/organic hair products, less is most definitely more. If you’re a regular reader you will know my tendency to be a bit overzealous with my applications of beauty lotions and potions. With these products, I did the same and there was some buildup left behind (just the same as any other products really – I definitely had this experience with John Frieda back in the day!) Even with my thick hair, there is no need to apply all that much. Of the styling mists, I would say 8 spritzes is optimum for my hair and the leave-in conditioner, not even a full pump! You can see how much the mists have been depleted, hardly any is gone and I’ve had loads of use already. Besides from the overzealousness, another word of warning – don’t apply the styling mists and then forget to do anything with your hair, because you’ll end up with crispy locks that need washing again! As the products are heat-activated you need to apply heat for the finish to be correct.
AS well as 2Chic Ultra Sleek and Ultra Moist, Ultra Volume is now available in the UK and Ultra Repair will be hitting the shelves very soon. Have you tried any of these hair products? If I’m missing a gem I’d love to know 🙂
