Regular readers will know of late I’ve had a renaissance in my skincare regimen. For some reason this winter, and I’m not sure if it’s all my hot yoga-ing or my age or Mr BB’s obsession with the central heating, my skin has felt more dehydrated than ever before. Dehydrated skin = too little water whilst dry skin = too little oil. In the past, I’ve been prone to oil imbalance in my skin but this winter I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my skin. So whilst I would usually favour an oil cleanser or a cleansing balm, this winter I’ve switch around and I’ve been using a cream cleanser or cleansing lotion. Not to discriminate, I’ve tried to include something for every skin type in this round up, and I’m starting with oily, combination and blemish prone skin.

Kimberly Sayer Light Cleansing Lotion

I frequently get asked by friends and acquaintances what the best products are for blemish or acne prone skin that obviously has sebum production issues on the surface, but inside is dehydrated. Well, in terms of a cleanser, look no further than Kimberly Sayer Light Cleansing Lotion. It’s a bit of a Ronseal really; formulated with Rosemary Extract and Lemon Oil to draw out impurities, in a Rosewater base to help hydrate and rebalance the skin all over. I love how this lotion just sinks into skin and lifts away the remains of the day. Whilst the directions say to use tissue or cotton pads, I plump for a muslin hot towel method. The formula is light and non-greasy, easily absorbed but easily removed to reveal cleaner skin ready for the next stages of your skincare regimen.

Green People Age Defy+ Purify & Hydrate Cream Cleanser

You can read my full review of Green People Age Defy+ Purify & Hydrate Cream Cleanser here, but in short I love the mid-weight texture of this product and the level of hydration it offers skin before any moisturising products have been applied. Suitable for most skin types.

Balance Me Collagen Boost Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser

I’ve only used this cleanser a handful of times since the launch event, but I am looking forward to putting it through its paces! The new Collagen Boost range from Balance Me features a peptide complex from your common or garden Peas, which in themselves are a complete source of the essential amino acids. The most effective Tri-peptide bond (remember those from chemistry at school?!) is G-P-Hy, which is proven to dramatically increase collagen synthesis and strengthen and protect the skin’s structure.

The cleanser also contains Hyaluronic Acid, one of my favourite ingredients for its fabulous hydrating properties, and the fact it can hold 1000 times it s weight in water; and Blackberry Leaf Extract, which helps protect the skin against deterioration of elastin and collagen and environmental damage.

The scent of this cleanser is right up my street, a great mix of floral (rose and magnolia), petitgrain, benzoin and a mere hint of frankincense (for the benzoin is dominant to my nose), truly scentsational!

Last, but by  no means least,

Pai Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser

Again, I’ve not used this cleanser all that much yet, but I love the intense hydration it offers. the gentleness of the formula coupled with its hydrating properties makes it a great option for sensitive types. The gentle fragrance of Camellia and Rose is a delightful aroma that is subtle and not overbearing. I’ll post a fuller review on this product once I’ve put it through its paces but I like what I’ve seen so far!
