I’d been Skyping with Soley Eliasdottir for a while, but it was a pleasure to meet her back in April when she came to the UK to launch her brand, Soley Organics, an organic beauty brand from Iceland.
Soley is a longstanding iconic figure both on the stage and screen in the Icelandic Thespian world.
But the skill she has turned her hand to in recent years goes back 16 generations through her family: harnessing the healing properties of nature. Soley has created a range of therapeutic organic beauty and skin health products.
My Experience with Soley Organics, Organic Beauty Brand
In 2007, Soley launched her first product in the Soley Organics range, GRAEDIR, a multi-tasking therapeutic cream. This product has sat on my desk since April, and I’ve been applying whenever my hands feel a little (or a lot) dry, more so in the past month! The cream is quite thin in consistency, thinner than one might expect coming out of a tube of this shape. I like the formula though, it’s easily absorbed and totally nongreasy. The base is Icelandic spring water, and high up in the ingredients list are coconut oil, shea butter, and sweet almond oil. There are several wildcrafted Icelandic herbs featuring in the formula too, including birch, bearberry, yarrow, and willow. The fragrance of the product is a subtle blend of citrus, ylang-ylang, and lavender, not too overpowering but enough to enjoy it!
Another product that’s been on my desk for as long as the Soley Organics GRAEDIR cream is the KISStu mig; an organic beauty healing balm free from fillers. I’ve been using it no dry skin spots on my hands and as a lip balm, but having read up you can also use to protect against cold sores, rejuvenate tired eyes and even to treat hemorrhoids!
It’s quite a thick golden-brown coloured balm, and only a smidgen is required for one application. Soley Organics KISStu features the same Icelandic herbs utilised in the GRAEDIR cream with beeswax, sweet almond oil and pure vitamin E. Sitting on a plane as I type this, I wish I’d brought some with me, we’re two hours in and my lips are getting rather dry!
Finally, I also tried eyGLO from the Soley Organics collection. You’d be forgiven for thinking that this was an eye product, for I did. Doesn’t the name look like Eye Glow?! Well, it is about creating glowing skin, but it’s a face moisturiser. As well as the pure Icelandic spring water, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, vitamin E and Icelandic herbs we saw in both GRAEDIR and KISStu, there is also apricot oil, rosehip fruit oil, and frankincense oil, some fab ingredients for caring for the skin!
Again, with the cream being a waterbased product, it’s not too heavy or greasy and is easily absorbed into the skin. I’ve only recently started using this face cream, but I like what I’ve experienced so far. Particularly the frankincense fragrance!
