A couple of months ago I was invited to meet Tom Pellereau, the inventor of Stylfile, a nail care brand, for coffee and cake at Drink, Shop & Do. This was not the first time I had been to this joint, for Nadja of Throw Me Something Beautiful and Olivia of Beauty from the Fjords invited me to the Bloggers Tea Party there last year.
Last time I succumbed to the Red Velvet Cake but this time there was no competition, for there was an Oreo cake. I was delighted to see a blogger on Instagram offering up a raw Oreo recipe, coming soon on her site, and relieved to learn that I am not the only healthy eater with little willpower when it comes to those dark and white discs of delight! The cake was absolutely delicious, as was the latte, but what I really loved was when the prosecco was opened at the end of the Stylfile session! A very naughty treat day – cake, coffee and clinkies!
I do appreciate a good gadget, particularly if health or beauty related – Slendertone, Micropedi, Homedics shiatsu massage chair all spring to mind – so I was intrigued to see what new innovations for Stylfile inventor Tom had up his sleeve!
It seems entirely logical that when shaping our curved tips that a curved file like Stylfile would be more suitable, so why didn’t someone think of it sooner?! Having put this to the test on a few occasions since the event, I can tell you there is no going back to the straight models.
Tom got the idea for Stylfile watching female friends and family filing their nails. Since the initial design, there have been several beneficial add ons to create new models. Such as-
The hook – to clean out underneath the whites of your nails.
The cuticle pusher – located at the other end to the hook, or both cleverly concealed inside the mini handbag version.
And the latest Stylfile addition – nourishing almond oil in a touche éclait style delivery system.
Also new to the collection is a foot file. Now I admitted to Tom that I was unsure if I would use this tool for I am so attached to my Emjoi Micropedi! I’ve not tried it…. yet!
Tom looks for gaps in the market and is all about making products that are solutions, easy to use and save time. One issue I have is cutting the nails on my right hand with scissors and I don’t like using clippers as I feel it can weaken the nail. I explained this to Tom, and lo and behold he already had the solution for me! Stylfile clippers have a curved edge which means they cut like scissors! These are truly fabulous, a definite permanent fixture in my nail kit!
Finally, Tom shared a prototype of his next product with me; a device to clean, and almost as importantly dry, makeup brushes in incredible time! I told Tom I was a massive Dr Bronner’s fan for cleaning my makeup brushes, so I hope he’s put it to the test along with his cracking invention.
